YOGA:
We offer a general class where you will learn dynamic yoga postures or positions (asana), along with yoga posture "flows” or sequences (vinyasa) to help you develop strength, flexibility and coordination, and to enhance overall well-being. Deep breathing and relaxation techniques will help give you more control over daily stressors.

MEDITATION:
The Litchfield Athletic Club offers a beginner’s class in Insight (Vipassana) Meditation which will help you develop a deeper and more relaxed awareness.In this practice of relaxed, careful, and openmindfulness, you will learn the discipline of “breath” and “one pointedness”. Through exercises in “non-doing”, or just “being”, you will begin to calm and open to a more relaxed yet alert (i.e. clear) state.

As Henry David Thoreau once said... “Only that day dawns to which we are awake”... our moments turn to days and days to a lifetime can slip away when one is unawake

Tai Chi Symbol
TAI CHI
is a gentle way to condition the body, relax the mind, and relieve day-to-day stress. Developed in China as a healing and martial art, Tai Chi is used to promote wellness and enhance overall health and fitness. It is a soft, flowing, dance-like practice; helping to align, energize, and strengthen the body.

INSTRUCTOR: Roger Peters conducts Tai Chi and Stress Relief classes in hospitals, corporations, wellness centers, health spas, rehab facilities,healing arts centers, retirement communities, and educational institutions. His lively,active presentations help you achieve optimal health and wellness in daily living. Mr. Peters has worked as a corporate manager and a corporate training consultant. He has a master's degree in educational design, and has studied Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Pa Qua, and Shiatsu techniques with a series of skilled, generous teachers.

We offer a variety of touch therapies specific to your individual needs.

Swedish Massage- is a mild touch therapy that uses a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles.

Sports/Therapeutic Massage- offers a deeper tissue stimulation to relieve muscle tension, promote relaxation, and improve circulation.

Myofascial Release/Cranio-Sacral
Massage- is a “hands-on” technique which provides sustained pressure into connective tissues throughout the body to relieve pain and correct cerebral and spinal imbalances.
